22-year-old youth found dead on bank of a river in Poonch | KNO

Body of a 22-year-old youth was recovered on the bank of river in Poonch district on Monday morning. Official sources told that some locals spotted a body lying on the bank of the river near Azad Mohalla and informed police about it. A police team immediately reached the spot and taken the body to district hospital Poonch for medico legal formalities including the postmortem.

SSP Poonch Rajiv Panday while confirming the incident identified the deceased as Mohd Rameez Khan (22) son of Mohd Farooq of Sani Surankote. Sources said that Rameez was a student of class 12th and was missing since yesterday. "Preliminary investigations suggested that the youth died due to drug overdose as one syringe has been found from one of his pocket," SSP said. He said that his bike (JK02BT-5990) was also recovered around half kilometer from the site where his body was lying on the bank of river.

"A case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigations to ascertain the cause of death has been launched," he said.
